In my 20 years of wedding photography, something that always makes certain wedding day images a step above the rest is emotion. One of the things I tell my clients when I have my final meeting with them before their wedding is “don’t be afraid to hold hands, look at each other and interact with each other through out the day. When I catch those emotions, I know that will be gold for their wedding album.
A helpful tip for your wedding day is don’t be afraid to show emotion. Brides, grooms and their parents are often so afraid to cry on the wedding day. I always tell them, don’t be afraid to cry. It is good to show that emotion. It is good for you and good for those around you. The emotions of joy, happy tears, excitement, sentimental moments, etc are all apart of the wedding day. There is also an emotion of sadness, but a good sadness. It is the end of one chapter that was often a good chapter in life and the beginning of another capture. It is good to allow yourself to feel the emotions that come with closing that chapter and opening the next one.
Elizabeth and Logan did a great job of showing their emotions on their wedding day. I loved catching all the little moments that they shared between them during the ceremony and during the formal pictures. These are moments you cannot plan or pose for. They happen and as their photographer and storyteller I get the honor of capturing them.
